New production centre to boost the aeroengine business

Monday, 13 / June / 2016

Aciturri has rolled out a new growth plan for the motor industry which includes a new production centre in Miranda de Ebro – Ircio Industrial Estate-  and  extension of the centres in Miranda - Orón, Bayas Industrial Estate- and Berantevilla (Álava).

Thus the company is increasing and promoting its traditional activity in the aerongine business area. This new venture has a highly technological component, which requires the knowledge and experience acquired in metal technology and in composites in recent years and in the future the additive manufacturing technology.

The progressive growth of Aciturri’s capability in this segment will improve the firm’s position as component supplier to the main motor manufacturers, offering more complex products and a catalogue of new processes which hitherto have been unavailable.

The works at Ircio have begun and the facility should be operational by the first quarter of 2017. In this initial phase, a production plant extending over 8,500 m2 will be built on a plot of approximately 45,000 m2 providing space for possible future extensions.

The investment from 2016 to 2020 amounts to 21 million Euros and the forecast  for Aciturri's  turnover in the aeroengine industry at the end of this period will be around 80 millions, a figure which quadruples Aciturri's current sales in this business line.

The company has plans to employ a total of up to 150 staff by 2020, who will be involved in this growth project. Of these, 15 have already begun working over the current year, providing support in this initial phase.

Aciturri's  growth in this business will be based on its previous contracts such as those awarded by the Rolls Royce aeroengine company,  and new works for different variants of the LEAP engine, developed by CFM International.
