The UN Global Compact in Spain activates the third edition of the Climate Ambition Accelerator Program with the aim of boosting the commitment of companies in the fight against climate change through science-based emission reduction targets, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative.
Aciturri, in its tenth year as a signatory partner of the United Nations Global Compact, joins this Program, designed to guide companies in setting measurable, science-based emission reduction targets and developing specific plans to achieve them. During the six-month program, Aciturri's Environment team will have access to a wide variety of resources designed to build capacity, share best practices and foster learning among the firms that are part of the program. Scheduled activities include capacity building sessions that provide the company with the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge, expert roundtable discussions and international events that will facilitate the exchange of ideas and collaboration.
Aciturri has been calculating its carbon footprint since 2016 and considers this data its main climate change impact indicator. At the same time, the company is involved in the development of a sustainable aeronautical industry as a founding member of Clean Aviation -the public-private initiative of reference in the EU for the development of new aeronautical technologies- and develops multiple R&D&I projects in a wide range of fields, such as the development of hydrogen storage and transport solutions as an alternative to the use of fossil fuels.
The company also contributes to accelerate the development of new concepts of sustainable mobility, participating as a key supplier of the Lilium Jet airframe, the first zero-emission vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and the D328ecoTM, a more efficient, economical and environmentally friendly aircraft that aims to drive the future of aviation towards a zero-emission flight target.
Climate Ambition Accelerator will also contribute to strengthening Aciturri's relationship with global partners of reference in the fight against climate change such as Science Based Targets and World Resources Institute, as well as with national entities such as the Comunidad por el Clima and the Oficina Española de Cambio Climático, under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, as expert bodies in the field.
